Iceland: Land of fire and ice.
It was only later that I realized how appropriate it had been that every morning for a month, as the sun rose, I had aimed my camera in the directions of an erupting volcano and a magnificent lake.
I spent the next year literally weaving those days together.
It was a slow and meditative process while I physically sliced each photograph and wove it with its companion day.
Literally handling the memories while creating new memories in the act of making the work, all in addition to filing away my memories of the time spent in the landscape, the woven photographs become a sculpture of remembrance.
