Weaving the Days
Iceland: Land of fire and ice.
It was only later that I realized how appropriate it had been that every morning for a month, as the sun rose, I had aimed my camera in the directions of an erupting volcano and a magnificent lake.
I spent the next year literally weaving those days together. It was a slow and meditative process as I physically sliced the photograph and wove it with its companion day.
Literally touching the memories and creating new memories in making the work, while filing the memories from the month spent in the landscape, the woven photographs become an object of remembrance.
